The basic principles of the naming conventions for .asia domains
do not differ from the rules as they are commonly used for
other top level domains. We have listed them for you below.
Domain names may only consist of the Latin letters »a« to »z«,
the digits »0« to »9«, and the hyphen. German umlaut characters
like »ä«, »ö« and »ü«, as well as the ligature »ß« are not
permitted for the time being.
Domain names must consist of at least three characters.
The maximum length is 63 characters.
Domain names may not start with a hyphen and may not end with a hyphen.
The third and fourth character may not contain a hyphen.
The domain names may not exclusively consist of one of the
alpha-2 country codes (e.g. »DE« for Germany).
Besides that there is a list of »Reserved Names« with names from the fields
Internet administration (ICANN, IANA), Registry Operations, and
geographic and geopolitical names that may not be registered.
