Websites that are reachable via a .mobi domain have to fulfill certain
criteria. These criteria are compiled to a set of regulations. Read

The registration started on May 22nd, 2006, with the first phase of a set of
different introductory phases.
Since October 11, 2006, .mobi domains can normally be registered via the
Web interface of the DRS or via e-mail template.
Usually, domain name disputes are not handled by a national court
but by an international board of arbitration. Please contact our

Generally speaking: yes. There are some restrictions, however,
so that it makes more sense to register domains directly with Knipp.
Domains can not be transferred in the following cases:
During the first 60 days after the initial registration.
During the first 60 days after a transfer.
As long as the domain has the state »ClientTransferProhibited«.
That state can be removed by the old registrar, however.
As long as the domain has the state »ServerTransferProhibited«.
This state can only be removed by the
registry.
A minimum of 3 characters and 63 characters at most. That does not
include the ».mobi«-string and prefixes like »www.« that may exist.
Thus, for »knipp.mobi« the length would be 5.
