Registrations
You can order .xxx domains easily with the help of our
e-mail
template.
We have prepared a page with
explanations which will help you
to complete the form.
Naming conventions
The basic principles of the naming conventions for .xxx domains
do not differ from the rules as they are commonly used for
other top level domains. We have listed them for you below.
-
Domain names may only consist of the Latin letters “a” to “z”,
the digits “0” to “9”, and the hyphen. German umlaut characters
like “ä”, “ö” and “ü”, as well as the ligature “ß” are not
permitted for the time being.
-
Domain names must consist of at least three characters.
The maximum length is 63 characters.
-
Domain names may not start with a hyphen and may not end with a hyphen.
-
The third and fourth character may not contain a hyphen.
-
Besides, there is a list of “Reserved Names” with names from the fields
Internet administration
(ICANN,
IANA), Registry Operations, and geographic and geopolitical names that may
not be registered.
-
Additionally, Registry Reserved Names include further .XXX names reserved
by the Registry for its own purposes, to comply with ICANN Requirements,
and for use by third parties. The complete list of reserved names is
not publicly available.
Rules of allocation
Who may register .xxx domains? In order to operate a .xxx domain, you have to
be a member of the “Sponsored Community” of .xxx, i. e. you have to be in the
Adult Entertainment business. The following groups are eligible:
-
“Providers”: Providers of Online Adult Entertainment intended for
consenting adults;
-
“Representatives”: Representatives of such Providers; and
-
“Service Providers”: Providers of products or services to the
aforementioned groups.
The only exception from this rule are defensive registrations that may also
be carried out by non-members of the “Sponsored Community”. They serve to
block certain domain names from being registered, without that the
corresponding .xxx domain can be used.
