ICANN's Whois Accuracy Program (WAP)

The Whois Accuracy Program (WAP) is a policy introduced by ICANN. This policy aims at guaranteeing that the indicated contact information for a domain is always accurate. This means that the given domain holder contact information needs to be validated and verified when registering a new domain or making changes to an already existing domain.
All top-level domains regulated by ICANN have to comply with the requirements of the WAP. Therefore, the policy concerns generic TLDs such as .com and .net as well as all ngTLDs such as .koeln, .nrw or .xyz. Country-code TLDs such as .de or .uk are not affected.
As an ICANN accredited registrar, we are now required to implement the WAP policy. In order to make the changes as easy and uncomplicated as possible for you, we have made some changes to our DRS and gathered useful information for you here.
Please read further to find background information on ICANN's WAP as well as our WAP FAQs.

WAP Tipps and Tricks

Here are some simple yet efficient steps you can take to make sure the verification process run smoothly and to minimize the risk of domain suspension.
  • When asked for contact information, make sure to always submit correct, valid data. Otherwise, you will not be able to receive confirmation e-mails. So please double-check the contact information you submit.
  • Always keep the submitted contact information up to date, especially when addresses or the person in charge change. Our DRS provides an easy way to update your contact information. If you need any assistance, our support team will be happy to help.
  • When registering a new domain, avoid using an e-mail address from the newly registered domain. This e-mail address will not work before successful registration of the domain. Instead, use a fully installed e-mail address to which you have access.
